Shashthi - Maa Katyayani

The sixth day of Sharadiya Navratri is dedicated to Maa Katyayani. 

Significance: In this form, She is the partial expansion that took birth in Sage Katya's home and gets her energy from trinity and demi Gods.  She is the creative force of nature and the force behind the mental power that controls life and death.  Her 3^rd eye stands for the inner eye which symbolizes looking inward.

Colour: Imbibe the colour Grey on this day to celebrate the sense of emotional balance.

Mantra:

या देवी सर्वभूतेषु तृष्णा रूपेण संस्थिता

नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै  नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः

या देवी सर्वभूतेषु तुष्टि रूपेण संस्थिता

नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै  नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः

चन्द्रहासोज्ज्वलकरा शार्दूलवरवाहना

कात्यायनी शुभम दद्याद देवी दानवघातिनी     

Translation: May the ever watchful Durga Devi Katyayani, who holds a shining Chandrahasa (Sword) in her hand and rides a magnificent lion and destroys the demons, bestow welfare on me.
