Chapter 3 - Text 8
नियतं कुरु कर्म त्वं कर्म ज्यायो ह्यकर्मणः
शरीरयात्रापि च ते न प्रसिद्ध्येदकर्मणः
Perform your prescribed duty, for action is better than inaction. A person cannot even maintain their physical body without work.
Chapter 3 - Text 20
कर्मणैव हि संसिद्धिमास्थिता जनकादयः
लोकसंग्रहमेवापि संपश्यन्कर्तुमर्हसि
Even kings like Janaka and others attained the perfectional stage by performance of prescribed duties. Therefore, just for the sake of educating the people in general, you should perform your work.
Chapter 6 - Text 16
नात्यश्नतस्तु योगोस्ति न चैकान्तमनश्नतः
न चातिस्वप्नशीलस्य जाग्रतो नैव चार्जुन
There is no possibility of one’s becoming a yogi, O Arjun, if one eats too much or eats too little, sleeps too much or does not sleep enough.
Chapter 18 - Text 39
यदग्रे चानुबन्धे च सुखं मोहनमात्मनः
निद्रालस्यप्रमदोत्थं तत्तामसमुदाहृतम
That happiness which is blind to self-realization, which is delusional from the beginning to the end, and which arises from sleep, laziness and illusion is said to be of the nature of ignorance.
